Twenty-first century emerging technologies allow teachers and students across disciplines and languages to be more effective in the acquisition of foreign languages and cultural knowledge. Moreover, educational technology offers teachers and students opportunities for virtual exchange experiences, which give students mobility in the world—independent of socioeconomic means. Participants will learn about a Rowland Foundation-funded project, Virtual Intercultural Avenues, a successful web-based portal creating virtual environments and connections within the Vermont educational community and abroad.
