Design it, Engineer it, Make it: Bringing the Maker Movement to High School

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

The Maker Movement has the lofty goal of making everyone view themselves as makers. While many would scoff at this, the Next Generation Science Standards task us with that very responsibility. One way we're doing this at SBHS is with a class that introduces students to a design process, presents lessons on electronics and working with materials, and supports them as they produce innovative products. SBHS students will show you inventions that will amaze you.

Teacher, South Burlington High School
I have been a Design Technology teacher since 1987 and have been teaching with information technology since I started. While I have no special love for computers, I appreciate what we can accomplish with them and the fantastic things they can be made to do to enhance communication, solve problems and design useful and fun things.
