One of the standards in the Common Core under Speaking and Listening is “Comprehension and Collaboration”. Teaching students to work together is sometimes challenging. Comprehending texts brings its own challenges. Allowing freedom in terms of how they collaborate and with whom, utilizing technology with which they are already familiar, and giving short turnaround times can increase engagement, increase learning, leverage and activate technology skills, and demonstrate for students the power of collaborating.
