Quiet Censorship in Schools

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Join award-winning Vermont author Tanya Lee Stone and a panel of educators for a discussion of “quiet censorship” in schools and libraries. Ms. Stone’s young adult novel A Bad Boy Can Be Good for a Girl has faced a few formal challenges but she says that more common is the quiet removal of her novel – and others - without public discussion. Why is this kind of censorship so prevalent and how does it harm students, educators, authors, and the public? How can we address the sometimes tough topics that concern adults while protecting intellectual freedom?
